On this wonderful Ancient China Tour, you will travel through China’s Imperial history, to experience the spiritual side of China. This China tour package will simple ‘WOW’ you - from the Great Wall in Beijing to the unforgettable hanging Monastery in Datong, as well as the opportunity to wander the delightful Pingyao Ancient City. Marvel at China’s Imperial history with the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an, visit the spectacular Longmen Cave in Luoyang, and experience China’s famous Kung-fu martial arts at its birthplace of the Shaolin Temple. You can extent this tour to modern city of Shanghai or Hong Kong, or scenic city of Guilin and Kunming for a different experience.

Day 1 - 2 Beijing
Beijing is the most famous ancient capital city in China. Your ancient China tour begins at arriving in Beijing; you will be met by your professional English-speaking tour guide and transferred to your hotel. The next day starts with a visit to the Temple of Heaven, where you will see local people practising Tai Chi, singing and doing calligraphy. Then take a leisurely walk through Tiananmen Square to the Forbidden City and enjoy the panoramic view of the Forbidden City from Jing-shan Hill. In the evening, you will sample one of China’s most famous dishes of all - a Peking Duck Dinner before you will marvel at a fantastic Kung Fu show, featuring a fusion of modern musical with Chinese traditional martial arts, simply mesmerising! Day 3 - 4 Beijing
Stepping back in time to ancient China with a walk on the Great Wall at Mutianyu section, one way cable car up to one of high Watch Towner and then walk down, the way back to your hotel, visit a Cloisonné workshop to learn how the Chinese ancient technique of Cloisonné is used to make beautiful fine handcrafts. Take the time for a photo opportunity at the 2008 Olympic Site. Experience the best of China’s modern architecture at the Bird’s Nest National Stadium and Water Cube Aquatic Center. the next morning, enjoy the ride on a traditional rickshaw through the zigzag alleyways called Hutong to catch a glimpse into local Chinese life before heading off to the Summer Palace, where you will relax on a dragon boat ride across the Kunming Lake. Day 5 Beijing / Datong
Begin your Datong tour with a morning flight to the ancient city itself. Afternoon, you will visit the Yungang Caves, where you will see amazing Buddhist-craftsmanship – they are carved thumb-sized figurines to a 17m-high Buddhist statue, and then 600 year old Nine-Dragon Screen Wall, it is the oldest and largest glazed screen in China. Nine multi-colored dragons on the screen appear vivid and marvellous, sample a local special dinner. (B/D)

Day 6 Datong / Pingyao
Today starts with a visit to the 1,500 year old Hanging Monastery with its halls and pavilions. This ancient Chinese monastery was built along the natural contours of the cliff and is truly an awe-inspiring feat of ancient engineering, followed by a private transfer to World Heritage-listed ancient town of Pingao. Day 7 Pingyao / Xian
Pingyao is surrounded by Ming city walls. You will find yourself flung back in time as your eyes behold the Imperial Chinese Ming Dynasty fortress, watchtowers, cast iron, intimidating wooden gates and sturdy walls. Your Pingyao tour will take you through what was China’s banking centre with many mansions, courtyard houses, temples, museums and historic shops. Stroll from Ming Qing street to Town Tower, Armed Escort Company Museum and the Temple of the CityGod. Visit Qiao Family Courtyard House, where the movie “Raise the Red Lantern” was filmed. Sample a local speciality dinner before experience an overnight soft sleeper train to Xi’an. (B/D)

Day 8 - 9 Xi'an
Having arrived for your Xi’an tour; you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, take a stroll (or even a bike ride!) on the original City Wall, and then explore the Old Muslim Quarter and Old Mosque. Tonight enjoy the local speciality ‘dumpling dinner’ before the fabulous Tang Dynasty culture show. The next day, visit the historically significant and the amazing Terracotta Warriors - where 7000 individually-crafted clay soldiers stand on guard. Visit a workshop to learn how to make these warriors. Then continue to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda which was built to house Buddhist scriptures collected by a Chinese Monk. You will see a variety of Buddha statues before a train ride to another ancient capital city of Luoyang. (2B/1D)

Day 10 - 11 Luoyang / Shaolin
This part of your escorted ancient China tour will take you to the religious city of Luoyang and Shaolin. You will start by visiting the spectacular World Heritage-listed Longmen Grottoes, comprising more than 2,100 caves and 100,000 Buddhist statues. Then take a visit to the White Horse Temple, China’s first place of Buddhist worship, wander through the narrow streets and laneways of Luoyang to see ancient houses and markets, before sampling a local speciality dinner. The next morning drive to the legendary Shaolin Temple, which is the birthplace of China’s famous martial arts – KungFu. You can witness thousands of monks and students practicing Kung Fu and watch a Kung Fu demonstration by some of the most gifted students. Transfer back to Luoyang. (2B/1D)
