Day 1 - 2 Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to your hotel. Start the next day with a visit to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and explore his former home, the House of Stilts and the One Pillar Pagoda. Sit back and enjoy your first view of the northern countryside on a drive to Halong Bay - one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. There we board an overnight traditional junk boat and sail among thousands of limestone islands rising out from emerald waters. (1B/1L/1D)
Day 3 Halong Bay
Discover fascinating caves and grottos surrounding Halong Bay, spot monkeys. Returning to Hanoi, stroll through the streets of the Old Quarter, visit the ancient Temple of Literature and infamous “Hanoi Hilton”. Enjoy a local speciality dinner and delightful water puppet performance. (B/D)
Day 4 Hue
After a short flight to Hue, enjoy a traditional dragon boat cruise from the centre of the city to the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda along the romantic Perfume River. Visit the impressive Imperial Citadel and royal tombs then experience a cyclo ride along the tree lined streets. Tonight, sample a delicious local specialty for dinner. (B/D)
Day 5 - 6 Hanoi
Take a scenic drive over the stunning Hai Van Pass to Hoi An and feast your eyes on the spectacular coastal scenery, stop to visit cultural site of Marble Mountain on the way. Go on a walking tour of historic Hoi An and learn the stories behind the ancient merchants, the 400-year-old Japanese covered bridge and the pretty Hokkien temple. Browse the colourful riverside market and sample the local dishes. The next day it’s free time to either explore the city or get some clothes made. There are over 100 silk shops offering same-day services for tailor-made clothes at low prices. (2B/1D)
Day 7 Ho Chi Minh City
Morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City, explore the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing underground network of tunnels which stretches over hundreds of kilometres. You’ll have the opportunity to crawl in a section of the tunnels to learn how the brave locals built underground hospitals, kitchens and meeting rooms during their struggle for a unified Vietnam. Enjoy a river cruise dinner along the Saigon River. (B/D)
Day 8 - 9 Mekong Delta
Morning explore the lush countryside of the Mekong Delta, the ‘rice bowl’ of Vietnam. Cruise waterways, stopping at abundant orchards to taste exotic fruits, visit local family owned business along the way. Sample a Mekong speciality lunch and then go on a sampan ride through some of the small creeks and canals before returning to Saigon. Enjoy a walking tour of historic Dong Khoi Street, and then visit the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum. The tour ends with a hotel / airport transfer on day 9. (2B/1L)
