Day 1 Delhi
Arriving in Delhi, you will be transferred to your hotel. You will have the rest of the day to spend at your own leisure.
Day 2 Delhi
Visit India’s largest mosque, the Jama Masjid, and ride a rickshaw through the narrow lanes of Old Delhi. Driving past Red Fort to New Delhi, you’ll see Humayun’s Tomb which has been listed as a World Heritage Site. Take some family photos at India Gate and Parliament Building and explore Connaught Place, Delhi’s local social hub. Indulge in a local specialty dinner in the evening as part of your escorted tour. Day 3 Delhi / Jaipur
Travel to Jaipur and spend time at your own leisure in this magnificent city. Go bargain shopping at the local markets and explore Jaipur’s city streets. (B)
Day 4 Jaipur / Agar
Tour the Palace of Winds, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Manta. Take family photos at the charming Lake Palace before going on an elephant ride to Amber Fort to explore its magnificent interior with its exquisite paintings and carvings on the walls and ceilings. In the afternoon, drive to Agar and visit Fathpur Sikri, the former capital of the Mughal Empire. (B)
Day 5 Agar / Varanasi
Bask in a spectacular sunrise at Agra’s infamous Taj Mahal. Marvel at its beauty, brilliance and exquisite craftsmanship. After breakfast at the hotel, visit a marble inlay workshop to learn about marble art and craft before travelling to Agar Fort and to the railway station for your overnight train to Varanasi. (B)
Day 6 Varanasi
Arriving in Varanasi in the morning, you will be transferred to your hotel. See the impressive ruins of Sarnath, the place of the Buddha’s first sermon, before going on a private tour of Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Benares Hindu University. In the evening, feel free to explore the incense-filled laneways of Varanasi and observe ancient traditions near the sacred River Ganges. (B)
Day 7 Varanasi / Kathmandu
Begin your day with an early cruise on the River Ganges. You will see the temples bathing in a soft light with friendly locals washing clothes, practicing yoga and taking a spiritual dip in the river. Next, fly to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, for your escorted tour. (B)
Day 8 Kathmandu Valley / Patan
Travel to the Pashupatinath Temple, the most sacred temple in Nepal which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. See Boudhanath Stupa, the world’s largest stupa which is renowned for its painted eyes on all four cardinal points and Swayambhunath Temple, the oldest Buddhist shrine. Looking east from here, you will see the entire Kathmandu Valley. Travel to the Royal Palace and Durbar Square in Patan and sample a local specialty dinner as part of your small group tour. (B/D)
Day 9 Changgunarayan / Nagarkot
Enjoy a scenic drive to Nagarkot which will go uphill to the Temple of Changunarayan. This temple is said to be built during the 4th century and is considered as the oldest temple in the valley. It is located at the top of a spur, offering a beautiful view of the valley and the Himalayan ranges towards the north. Embark on an adventurous hike of approximately two hours along the ridge from the temple to Nagarkot and stay overnight at the hill station. The next morning, enjoy spectacular views of a breathtaking sunrise over Mount Everest and other snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan ranges of Eastern Nepal. (B/L/D)
Day 11 Kathmandu
Spend time at your own leisure in Kathmandu before transferring to the airport. (B)
Day 10 Nagrkot / Kathmandu via Bhaktapur
Take photos of the mystical sunrise over the Himalayas before travelling to the charming cultural town of Bhaktapur. Along the way, you will visit the Temple of Changu Narayan, the oldest temple in the valley. Explore Durbar Square, travel to the Golden Gate and the Palace of 55 Windows. (B)
