Day 1 – 3 Beijing
Beijing is the most famous Chinese city of them all and on this China tour package, you will see it all! Upon arrival in Beijing, you will be met by your professional English-speaking tour guide and transferred to your hotel. The next day starts with a visit to the Temple of Heaven, where you will see local people practising Tai Chi, singing and doing calligraphy. Then take a leisurely walk through Tiananmen Square to the Forbidden City and enjoy the panoramic view of the Forbidden City from Jing-shan Hill. In the evening, you will sample one of Chinas most famous dishes of all - a Peking Duck Dinner before you will marvel at a fantastic Kung Fu show, featuring a fusion of modern musical with Chinese traditional martial arts. Simply mesmerising! Day 3 you will step back in time to ancient China with a walk on the Great Wall at Mutianyu section, one way cable car up to the watchtower and then walk down. En route visit a Cloisonné workshop to learn how the Chinese ancient technique of Cloisonné is used to make beautiful fine handcrafts. (2B/1D)
Day 4 – 5 Xian
Enjoy the ride on a traditional rickshaw through the zigzag alleyways called Hutong to catch a glimpse into local Chinese life before heading off to the Summer Palace, where you will relax on a dragon boat ride across the Kunming Lake. Your Beijing tour ends with a transfer to the railway station for a comfortable overnight soft sleeper train to Xian. The next morning having arrived for your Xian tour; you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, take a stroll (or even a bike ride!) on the original City Wall, and then explore the Old Muslim Quarter and Old Mosque. Tonight enjoy the local speciality dumpling dinner before the fabulous Tang Dynasty culture show. (2B/1D)
Day 6 – 7 Chengdu
Visit the historically significant and the amazing Terracotta Warriors - where 7000 individually-crafted clay soldiers stand on guard. Visit a workshop to learn how to make these warriors. Then continue to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda which was built to house Buddhist scriptures collected by a Chinese Monk. You will see a variety of Buddha statues before continuing your tour on a flight to Chengdu - the economic centre of Southwest China and the home of Chinese Giant Panda. The next morning visit the fascinating Giant Panda Breeding and Research Centre to learn more about these amazing endangered animals and the programs that are being implemented to protect them. Watch these adorable pandas eating, playing, climbing and walking around. Later, relax in the peaceful gardens of Dufu’s cottage, explore bustling teahouses and take a stroll in the lively People’s Park, sample a local specialty dinner. (2B/1D)
Day 8 – 9 Lijiang
This morning fly to Lijiang, an enchanting town with its Naxi minority culture and maze of winding cobbled streets and streams. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, and then explore the World Heritage site of Lijiang Dayan Ancient Town and wander through the ornately-carved wooden buildings, teahouses and cobbled streets interspersed with mini canals and streams. Enjoy a dinner at a courtyard local family. The next day, you will leisurely wander around the Black Dragon Pool Park for a spectacular view of the Jade Dragon Mountain - from a distance this mountain looks like a dragon flying from within the clouds, and then visit the landmark building of Lijiang ancient town--the pure wood Wangu building on the top of Lion Hill and enjoy impressive views over the town. You will also see a 500 year old Camellia tree at the peaceful Tibetan Yufeng Monastery, stroll through Baisha Naxi people village and see the collection of unique artistic style and historic murals in the village. Day 10 – 11 Tiger Leaping Gorge / Shangri-La
Your tour to Shangri-La begins with a relaxing drive to the first bend of the Yangtze River. From there, you’ll visit the world’s deepest gorge – Tiger Leaping Gorge, and then continue on to Shangri-La, a land of forests, grassland, mountains and Tibetan culture. The next day, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the mystical prayer halls and temples of the 300 year old Songzanlin Tibetan Monastery, before taking a nature walk along the Napa Lake. In the afternoon, you’ll visit lush Tibetan villages and friendly Tibetan families before your final stop at a Tibetan Old Town to enjoy a traditional Tibetan dinner (2B/1D)
Day 12 Shangri-la / Kunming / Guilin
After a short flight to Kunming, enjoy a short city tour of Kunming, visit the fascinating Yunnan Museum and explore the crammed alleys of the Bird and Flower Market before late afternoon flight to Guilin. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. (1B)
Day 13 - 14 Guilin
While on your Guilin tour enjoys a spectacular Li River cruise, which goes past bizarre-shaped mountains, villages and water buffalos. Disembark at the traditional country town of Yangshuo where you can spend relaxing time to enjoy the tranquil countryside and local villages, see rice paddies and fish farms. Sample a local special dinner. The next day, you’ll visit “Palace of Natural Art” Reed Flute Cave and view the beautiful vista of the Elephant Trunk Hill before flying to Hong Kong. Upon arrival, seat in coach transfer to your hotel. (3B/1D)
Day 15 - 16 Hong Kong
Hong Kong was once a simple fishing village. Today, it is one of the World’s most cosmopolitan cities where East meets West. See the highlights of Hong Kong on a seat in coach tour, take a tram up to Victoria Peak and see the breathtaking view of Hong Kong Harbour, experience the traditional Hong Kong life at Aberdeen Fishing Village, drive through the most –visited beach of Repulse Bay, last stop at Shopper’s Paradise – Stanley Market. This afternoon is your free time to explore. Your Hong Kong tour ends with a transfer to the airport on day 16. (2B)
